Chibitronics’ Craft with Light Kit Release

Chibitronics’ Craft with Light Kit Release

Hello friends!! I’m super excited to share with you a project that is a first for me!! Today I’m sharing my first EVER light-up card!!! Chibitronics is releasing a new light kit and they have generously invited me to join today’s instagram hop and create their awesome new Craft with Light Color Kit.

And yes you heard me correctly, until this hop I had never made a light-up card before. I’ve always been so impressed with the light up cards others had created but I was a bit too intimidated to tempt one of my own. And now with my first light-up card under my belt I’m mad at myself for taking so long to give it a try!

To create this card I first trimmed down a piece of Hero Arts Kiwi cardstock to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and then set it aside. Next, I created my Christmas tree with the O Christmas Tree Color Layering Stencils over white cardstock. I ink blended over the first stencil with Pine. Then I positioned stencil two and ink blended with Pine and Forever Green. Next, I ink blended the trim with Dandelion and Spicy Mustard. Lastly, I finished the tree by copic coloring the ornaments in.

Next, I die cut the tree out with the matching die and then hole punched four 1/16″ holes into my tree and one into the center of my star. I then centered my tree over my green panel and traced the openings of my five holes with a pencil. I then created holes over those pencil marks with a needle because my hole punch wasn’t able to reach. Next, I centered the panel onto the front of an A2 top-folding white card base and traced the hole once more. I then sketched out where my lights, fabric tape and battery would go onto the front of my card base.

Next, I folded a 2″ x 1″ strip of copy paper in half and then adhered it to the card front where my battery was supposed to go. I then placed my fabric tape onto my card front and around and over my un-taped half of my copy paper. Next, I added my lights and then my battery. I then tested my arrangement by folding my copy paper over the battery and pressing.

When everything lit up and then adhered the battery in place and then added doubled up foam adhesive to my card front. Next, I removed the backing on the foam adhesive and then adhered my panel and tree to my card front. Lastly, I finished the card with a stamped and white heat-embossed sentiment from the Winter Scenics stamp set.

Be sure to head over to Chibitronics’ Instagram account to start today’s and to learn more about the GIVEAWAY!

I hope you enjoyed my card. Thank you so much for stopping by!
