Hero Arts August 2022 My Monthly Hero Release and Blog Hop

Hello friends!! It’s release day!! Today over at Hero Arts the August 2022 My Monthly Hero Kit and all the add-ons are now available! Before I share my projects let’s take a closer look at the new kit.

Kit Contents:

  • 3″ x 4″ Clear Stamp Set
  • 4 Color Layering Stencils (5.25″ x 6.5″)
  • 6 Coordinating Frame Cuts
  • 4 Ink Cubes (Caramel, Sand, Tangerine, Pine)
  • 5 Sheets Luxe White Watercolor Paper (5.5″ x 8.5″)
  • Bronze PearlEx (0.11 oz.)

Kit Value: $70 Kit Cost: $34.99

My first card features the kit and those awesome color layering stencils!

To create this card I first ink blended a panel of white cardstock with color layering stencils and several Hero Arts inks. I used Papaya and Pumpkin for the Buttes, Spicy Mustard and Fawn for the middle section of sand and Pumpkin and Cup O’ Joe for the bottom section of sand. I also used Moss and Forever Green all the plants. When I finished ink-blending the scene I the die cut the landscape out with the matching die and trimmed the panel down to 4″. I then ink-blended the remaining white gaps between the two sections of sand with Sand Core Ink.

Next I ink-blended a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of white cardstock with Pool Party, Blue Hawaii and Purple Galaxy Reactive Inks to create a sky. I then splattered the sky with a little bit of white Gansai Tambi white watercolor paint. Next, I die cut a circle out of white cardstock using a circle die from the Nesting Circle Infinity Die Set to create a moon. I then ink blended the circle with a little Lemon Drop ink and it and the desert landscape to the sky panel.

I then and adhered the panel onto the front of an A2 top-folding black card base. Lastly I finished the card by stamping and white heat-embossing a sentiment onto black cardstock then trimming the sentiment down to a strip and adhering onto the card front with foam adhesive.

My next card features the gorgeous new Cactus Bold Prints stamp and the Roadside Messages Bundle.

To create this card I first stamped and white heat-embossed an A2 panel of Bristol paper with the Cactus Bold Prints stamp. I then watercolored the panel with Tombow Dual Brush Pens. When the panel had dried I then added a shadow to the images with a gray Tombow Dual Brush Pen. I then adhered the panel to the front of an A2 top-folding white card base.

Next, I stamped and white heat-embossed a sentiment from the Roadside Messages Stamp Set onto Charcoal cardstock. I then added a shadow to the sign and sentiment with the same gray Tombow Dual Brush Pen and then die cut the sentiment out with the matching die.

I then finished the card by adhering the sentiment to the card front with foam adhesive.

  1. I love the contrast of the two cards. The mesa colors are soothing while the colorful cacti card is full of energy.

  2. I did enjoy your cards. They are both so beautiful and vibrant…love that. My favorite one is the second one using the stamp.

  3. Super cute cards! Love the colorful way you did the background of the cacti stamp & the realism of the desert background.
