Waffle Flower Crafts February Release Blog Hop and Giveaway

Waffle Flower Crafts February Release Blog Hop and Giveaway

Hello crafty friends!! It’s time for a new release over at Waffle Flower Crafts!! This unique release is full of so many innovative products, products specifically designed to aid in the design process of cardmaking!!

My first card just so happens to feature one of these design focused products. The Cutlines Die set is so fantastic for scene building or adding decorative edges and layers. My card illustrates how you can construct an entire landscape with this die set only.

To create this card first die cut all my layers out of scraps of colored cardstock using the Cutlines Die set. I used four shades of blue for the water, two oranges for the mountains and six different yellows for the sun.

I then adhered all my layers onto an A2 panel of cream cardstock. I trimmed off any over hang and then adhered the panel onto the front of an A2 top-folding white card base.

Next, I stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment from the Vertical Sentiment Stamp Set onto light gray cardstock. I then die cut the sentiment out with the strip die from the coordinating Vertical Sentiment Die Set. Lastly I finished the card by adhering the sentiment to the card front with foam adhesive.

My last card features the beautiful new birth flower set, the Daffodil – March Birth Flower Combo with the coordinating Daffodil Coloring Stencils.

To create this card I first stamped several images from the Daffodil Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black onto white cardstock. I then ink blended the images with several Distress Inks and the Daffodil Coloring Stencils.

Flower Petals: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey

Flower Center: Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, Candied Apple

Leaves: Twisted Citron, Pine Needles

Next, I colored the stamen and added some shadowing to the petals with just a couple copic markers. I then stamped the images a second time in VersaFine Onyx Black using my MISTI and then die cut the images out with the matching dies. I then finished the flowers and leaves by adding a few white gel pen highlights.

Next, I ink blended over the front of an A2 top-folding white card base with Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey and Ripe Persimmon Distress Inks. I then die cut a panel of white cardstock with the Triple Line Diamond Panel Die and adhered it to the card front with foam adhesive. I then adhered the flowers and leaves over the panel with foam adhesive. Lastly, I finished the card with a sentiment created with the Essential Sentiments Combo set and a few iridescent bubbles.

In celebration of this design focused release we have been asked to share one of our favorite design tips.

My favorite design tip is the rule of three. The rule guideline of threes say things arranged in odd numbers are more appealing and effective than even-numbered groupings. Three seems to be *the* magic number, but 5, 7, or 9 work nicely as well. You can see this principle actually illustrated in my last card. There are three daffodils and also nine leaves.

  1. Hi, Channin – Love both of these. I’m always “here for” a floral design — those daffies are beauties! And I love the CAS feel of the landscape you created. Great job! TFS – I’ll do the rest of the hop later today.

  2. I can’t believe how many things can be made from the cut lines die set. That was my favorite card. Beautiful cards today!!

  3. Always a fan of pretty flowers like the daffodils are. And love the whole design of that card. And the scene card is wonderful!

  4. I absolutely love both of these cards! Your landscape is so cleverly put together and I love the color blocks from the colored card stock. And wow the second card… so elegant!!

  5. Lovely cards! I especially love the look of the daffodil card and the way you inked only the opposite corners. It’s so effective. Thanks!

  6. The Daffodils card is stunning!
The colors really have me thinking ahead to Spring and warmer weather!
    Thanks for the inspiration.
