Hero Arts November My Monthly Hero Kit Blog Hop and Giveaway

My first project for today features the November My Monthly Hero Kit but instead of making gift tags I created a slimline card.

To create this card I first die cut all the Santa, reindeer, and elf components out of either Dove White or colored cardstock (Colors of Earth paper pack, Cherry, Meadow, Pitch Black, Peony & Antique Ivory). I did die cut two white mustaches and trimmed off the noses. I then adhered two of the white mustache pieces to the ivory nose/mustache die cut and then adhered the remaining two mustache pieces behind the nose to make the mustache fuller. I also trimmed off all the tag hoops from the die cuts.

I then added some shading with ink blending to the hats, the elf’s collar, holly berries, Rudolph’s nose and ears as well as the faces of the elf and Santa (Forever Green, Fruit Punch, Royal Red). When all my parts were blended I then trimmed out detail elements and adhered all the pieces together.

With my characters made I then adhered them to the front of an slimline card base (7″ x 8 1/2″; scored at 3 1/2″) with foam adhesive. Next, I stamped a sentiment from the set in INTENS-ified Black Ink onto the card front to finish my card.

My next card features an add-on stamp set, the Color Layering Merry Christmas.

To create this card I first stamped the detail layer for the Merry Christmas in INTENS-ified Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock. Next, I stamped the base layer for the Merry Christmas in Embossing & Watermark Ink and then heat embossed the sentiment with clear embossing powder,

Once I finished heat setting my embossing I then ink blended over the sentiment with several Reactive Inks (Berry Smoothie, Fruit Punch, Lemon Drop, Pool Party & Blue Hawaii). Next, I die cut the sentiment out with a circle die. I then stamped a topper for my sentiment now turned ornament in INTENS-ified Black Ink. I then fussy cut the topper out and then adhered it to the top of my ornament. Next, I tied a bow out of black and white twine and adhered it to the top of my ornament.

Then with the Sun Background Stencil, I applied Hero Paste over the card front of an A2 top-folding white card base. Once the background had dried I then finished the card by adding the ornament with foam adhesive.
