Waffle Flower Crafts May Challenge Week One

Waffle Flower Crafts May Challenge Week One

Hello friends!! Today starts a new weekly challenge over at Waffle Flower Crafts and this week myself and my amazing team, Yvonne and Mirisha, are hosting the challenge!! This week’s theme is paper piecing!

So bust into your massive stockpile of pattern paper (I know you have one πŸ˜‰) and/or make use of your piles of colored cardstock scraps because this week we challenge you to create a project with the paper piecing technique!!

The card I’m sharing today may stretch the way you think about paper piecing! For this card I opted not to go the tradition route of stamping paper patterned paper, but instead I used colored cardstock.

I will actually be creating this card LIVE on Tuesday, May 11 at 3:00 PT on Waffle Flower Crafts YouTube channel!! So if you would like to learn more about this technique or just see me put this card together in real time be sure to tune in!

For this card I first stamped several flowers and leaves onto colored cardstock in Distress Inks similar in color to the cardstock I had chosen. I then die cut the images out with the matching dies. Next I created the diamond frame using the Nesting Diamond Die set. I first die cut a frame out of white cardstock. I then pressed the frame into Versamark Ink and then heat-embossed with gold embossing powder.

Next, I arranged the flowers, leaves, and frame together and adhered them to front of an A2 top-folding pink card base. I then stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment from the Go Girl Stamp Set onto black cardstock. I then trimmed the sentiment down to a strip and adhered it to the card front. Lastly, I finished the card by adding several clear enamel dots to the card front.

I hope you enjoyed my card! Be sure to head over to Waffle Flower Crafts challenge blog to see Yvonne’s and Mirisha’s amazing creations (Mirisha even made a video!!) and to learn more about the entering the challenge and the PRIZES!!
