Waffle Flower’s September Challenge

Waffle Flower’s September Challenge

Hello everyone!! Today I’m here to share with you my creation for Waffle Flower Crafts’ September Challenge!! Here’s the inspiration photo and color palette.

Beautiful, huh! 🙂  And here’s my creation.

I was inspired instantly by the beautiful colors, so that’s where I started. First, I ink blended Waffle Flower inks, My Pleasure, Tickled Pink, Oh Happy Day, and Daydreaming on a 5″ by 6 1/2″ white card base, at the lower right corner. I then thoroughly dried my blending with my heat gun and applied anti-static powder on top. Now that my card was prepared for heat embossing I stamped and gold embossed several flowers and foliage from the Leafy Stamp Set. I then stamped and gold embossed a sentiment from the Congrats Stamp Set.

Lastly, I adhered some gold sequins. Okay its time for another truth time. Until very recently I only had a few colors of sequins, in fact I didn’t even have the gold ones that I adhered to this card …. yet. I did want to purchase some especially some clear ones but they seemed a little expensive for me to just take the plunge. However, I had been eyeing a big bag of mixed sequins at JoAnns for awhile and finally decided to purchase it cause this card needed gold sequins! Of course I used a 40% off coupon in so the total was about only $3.50! JoAnns doesn’t sell it online so here is a pretty close equivalent I found on Amazon, might even be exactly it. Here’s a look at what I got.

So first, yes I did color sort my bulk sequins, and yes, I’m crazy. And honestly, I LOVED sorting them! I couldn’t wait to get home and dig into the bag and see all the colors I had. So in the picture the purple, brown, and iridescent clear sequins (they are all next to each other at the upper left of the case) I already had, but all the rest you see is from the bulk bag, which is actually 13 different colors and most of the colors came in a variety of sizes. The bag had gold sequins in an assortment of sizes (at least 3) and it also had clear sequins (however, only in one size). Now it may not be the most beautiful assortment of sequins but if you have a very small collection like I had (and honestly probably still do especially compared to some) this might be a really good purchase for you. And as you can see I still have a lot sequins left in the bag. Yeah, I’m pretty happy about that purchase! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and enduring my frugal tales, ha! 😉 I hope I provided  you some inspiration and you will give Waffle Flower’s September challenge a try!!
